Weekend Post-Mortem

Being well in the throws of a public transit strike in Ottawa, my weekend started off with cancelled dinner plans. See, we made the decision to go car-free a while back, and have not regretted it once until this transit strike came to bite us in the butt. However, I made lemonade with those sour OC Transpo lemons and made a delicious homemade bacon-jalapeno pizza for dinner and we curled up on the couch for some much needed home time together.

Saturday morning was yoga - however, it was also -26 degrees outside, so we elected to stay in bed and LB made us french toast. Hint: put peanut butter on your french toast before the syrup - that's LB's creation and it's incredible!!! Then we did a bunch of housecleaning and tidying and bundled up for a walk down to the shops in our neighbourhood - new boots for LB, new toque for me, stopping by the Candy Store for some incredible milk chocolate peanut butter balls with a pretzel centre - we're saving those for a special occasion! Tried to find a 2009 calendar, but can't seem to find something nice that I can also write on! Then we got all gussied up and headed over to Martha's for our annual holiday party. It was a blast and this lady managed to stay out till 12:30!!!

Sunday morning I had a lovely breakfast with Daphna, then got ready for the week ahead and headed out to run a few errands - IKEA, liquor store, etc... then over to mom and dad's. They were kind enough to lend me their car to run a few errands since I feel like a transit hostage, and they were awesome enough to have two of my oldest and dearest friends Gen and Julie and their partners over for dinner last night for some festive cheer. They made us a huge thai feast and it was so nice to get together, just like back in the day...
